Addition of urologist and expanded surgical capabilities continue investment in local care following integration

MU Health Care is expanding access to specialized care in Jefferson City with the addition of comprehensive urology services at Capital Region Medical Center, bringing more clinic appointments, surgical procedures and advanced treatment options closer to home for patients in the region.

The expansion represents another milestone in MU Health Care's ongoing investment in the Jefferson City community since integrating with Capital Region Medical Center in January 2024.

Patients now have access to a new urology clinic on the third floor of the Madison Street Medical Building, anchored by urologist Dr. Crystal Valadon. Surgical services will begin Oct. 1 at Capital Region Medical Center. Additional support from MU Health Care urologists Dr. Daniel Au and Dr. Julie Riley will further strengthen access to care in the community.

"One of the promises we made through the integration was that patients in Jefferson City and surrounding communities would gain access to more specialized care close to home," said Ric Ransom, MU Health Care CEO. "The addition of urology services is a tangible example of that commitment. By expanding both clinic and surgical capabilities locally, we're making it easier for patients to receive the care they need without traveling to Columbia."

The new practice will provide comprehensive urologic care for men and women, including treatment for kidney stones, urologic cancers, bladder and urinary conditions, incontinence, and men's health concerns.

As part of the expansion, Capital Region Medical Center will add new surgical technology, including a laser system that will allow physicians to perform advanced procedures for kidney stones, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), prostate enlargement and certain tumor treatments.

Since the integration, MU Health Care has focused on expanding access to services while strengthening Capital Region Medical Center's role as a destination for high-quality care in central Missouri. The addition of urology services marks another step forward in that effort and reflects continued investment in the health care needs of the Jefferson City community.
