Story Summary
After surviving thyroid cancer, Cleta Sweeney thought her cancer journey was behind her. But years later, a tiny freckle on her iris turned out to be melanoma, a rare form of eye cancer.
With the help of experts at MU Health Care’s Ellis Fischell Cancer Center, including ocular oncology specialist Dr. Frederick Fraunfelder, Cleta received life-changing care that preserved both her vision and her future.
Today, as a two-time cancer survivor, Cleta is grateful for the simple joys — hiking in the mountains, spending time outdoors and making memories with her grandson.
