We’re pleased to share that MU Health Care has reached agreement with Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield (Anthem) to restore our participation in their commercial network, allowing us to care for our commercially insured patients on an in-network basis. The renewed partnership ensures continued access to quality, local care while protecting affordability for the people and communities both organizations serve.
This new agreement is retroactively effective April 1, 2025, and applies to Anthem and Blue Cross Blue Shield plans that members get through their employer or the Affordable Care Act (ACA) marketplace.
This means if you were seen during the out-of-network period on or after April 1, claims for care you received during that period will be reprocessed at in-network rates.
Commercially insured patients can visit muhealth.org/doctors to find the number to schedule appointments with their MU Health Care providers. Mizzou students can call (573) 882-7481 to schedule appointments at the Student Health Center.
We appreciate the patience and support of the patients in our community, our governing and advisory boards, elected officials, partners and countless others as we navigated through this process. Our top priority remains ensuring our patients have in-network access to convenient, local health care from the providers they know and trust.
This new agreement does not include Anthem or Blue Cross Blue Shield Medicare Advantage plans. Effective April 1, 2025, MU Health Care was removed from Anthem’s and Blue Cross Blue Shield’s Medicare Advantage HMO and PPO plans.
