Respiratory Therapy

The Respiratory Therapy department at Capital Region Medical Center has qualified, experienced personnel and provides the latest in technologies and treatments. The mission of the RT department is to decrease the number of acute exacerbations associated with lung disease by providing appropriate care, education, and maintenance of chronic disease.

Respiratory Therapists work to evaluate, treat and care for patients with breathing disorders. These patients include those with:

  • Chronic lung disease such as asthma, bronchitis, and emphysema
  • Heart attack and accident victims
  • Premature infants
  • People with cystic fibrosis, lung cancer, or AIDS

Respiratory therapists work towards a healthier future for all by promoting prevention, quality treatment and management of respiratory diseases through asthma education and smoking cessation programs within the community.

The CRMC Respiratory Care Department received recognition as a Quality Respiratory Care Provider by the American Association of Respiratory Care.
